Pink Traminer, White Traminer

One of the most popular dessert wines in Moldova, “Trandafirul Moldovei,” is the calling card of Moldvinprom. The brand was first released at the Romanesti state farm in 1966. The White Traminer and Pink Traminer grapes were grown in vineyards belonging to three state farms in the central and southern regions of Moldova: “Romanesti,” “Rezina,” and “Ciganka.”

The grapes were hand-harvested in 1986. The wine was aged in barrels for 3 years and then underwent mandatory aging in bottles. The aging took place at an ideal temperature of +12 to +14 degrees Celsius and a humidity of over 90%, which are necessary for the slow maturation of collection wines. These conditions were ensured by aging at a depth of 80 meters underground in the village of Mileştii Mici, in former mines used for extracting shell limestone. The wine has brought Moldova numerous awards at international competitions and is included in the famous Golden Collection recorded in the Guinness World Records.

The wine has a color ranging from tea to light ruby, with a pinkish hue. The bouquet features the recognizable Traminer aroma of tea rose petals, quince, tropical fruits, figs, and salted caramel. The taste is soft, balanced, and fairly fresh with a slight spicy bitterness. It finishes with a long aftertaste of caramel and rose petal jam.

When serving the wine, it is recommended to chill it to +8 to +10 degrees Celsius to maintain the balance between sugar and acidity, as well as to decant it in advance to remove the natural sediment typical of collection wines. It pairs well with light desserts such as ice cream, panna cotta, and crème brûlée.
