Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec

The classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec is “Rosu de Milestii Mici.” Its history dates back to the 19th century when invited by Russian Emperor Nicholas I, French colonists arrived at the vineyards on the slopes of the Dniester River, which belonged to the Zograf Monastery on Mount Athos. They brought with them the vines of popular French varieties. Then, in 1964, Soviet technologists revived the production of this wine.

The grapes for this wine were grown in 1987 on the vineyards belonging to the “Purcari” sovkhoz. After aging in oak barrels, the wine is bottled and sent for further maturation in special conditions 80 meters underground. This wine became part of the famous Golden Collection of “Milestii Mici,” included in the Guinness Book of Records.

The wine has a dark ruby color with a carmine hue. The aroma is dominated by notes of cherry, chocolate, blackcurrant jam, and saffron, complemented by tobacco tones and Eastern spices. The taste is balanced, rounded, fruity, with soft, velvety tannins softened by long aging in the collection.

Before serving, it is recommended to decant the wine for 30 minutes to allow it to open up. The serving temperature is +16 to +18 degrees Celsius. It pairs well with filet mignon, stewed veal, and goulash. The wine has a high aging potential in the collection.
